API Gateway

Challenge

MPSV required a centralized, secure way to modernize and integrate legacy systems into a modern application stack. The solution needed to handle high traffic volumes while strictly separating internal and external security zones.

Solution

I performed a detailed design and selection process for the enterprise API Gateway. Key activities included:

• Platform Evaluation: A comprehensive comparison of Azure API Management, Kong, and Mulesoft, evaluating them against enterprise scalability and security requirements.
• Security Architecture: Designing a dual-zone operation model (internal/external) to protect sensitive government data.
• Standardization: Implementing centralized audit logging and rate-limiting policies to ensure system transparency and stability.

Impact

The implementation improved overall system scalability and significantly streamlined the development cycle by providing standardized entry points for all services. It also greatly enhanced system visibility through centralized logging.
