Challenge
The client needed a luxury accommodation booking platform that could handle real-time availability and provide a seamless user experience for high-end guests. The main technical hurdle was integrating multiple booking sources and ensuring that the internal management system for Vila Hedvika stayed in sync without manual intervention.
Solution
As the Lead Developer & Architect for Vila Hedvika, I designed and built a high-performance Next.js 15+ platform deployed on the Cloudflare stack. Key technical highlights include:
- Serverless Architecture: Leveraging Cloudflare Pages and Workers for 0ms cold starts and global low latency.
- Real-time Availability: Developed a custom availability engine with bi-directional sync to Google Calendar via service accounts, eliminating double-bookings.
- Modern Tech Stack: Used D1 Database for edge-native data storage and Lucia Auth for secure, customizable authentication.
- Admin Dashboard: A secure interface for the owners to manage reservations, seasonal pricing, and content.
Impact
The resulting platform offers extreme cost efficiency (running almost entirely within Cloudflare's free/low-cost tiers) while providing a premium, lightning-fast experience for visitors. It has significantly reduced administrative overhead for the owners through automated sync processes.
